THE NATIONAL VOICE ASSOCIATION (NVA)

an organization of professionals dedicated to the speaking voice

 

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

 

  • to maintain a membership database that is searchable by region and geographical location

  • to offer a national network of contacts where practitioners can connect (across disciplines) to discuss issues surrounding the speaking voice

  • to advocate for recognition, fair pay, and professional working conditions for all voice professionals

  • to provide timely information on professional development workshops and conferences

  • to provide mentorship opportunities to students and early career professionals with notable practitioners across a spectrum of disciplines

  • to chronicle the evolving stories of legacies and pedagogies, professional practices, practitioners, and their contributions to the field in Canada

 

OUR MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES

 

Speaking voice coaches, speech coaches, text coaches, singing teachers, vocologists, speech-language pathologists, otolaryngologists, audiologists, other voice and hearing scientists, dialect coaches, linguists, vocal presentation coaches, and students of voice pedagogy.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

Professional
($130 CDN / year)

Voice and speech professionals (including health care professionals) who have:

  • a post-graduate degree in a related field with 2+ years of teaching/practice OR

  • an under-graduate degree in a related field with 3+ years of teaching/practice OR

  • 4 years of individual study with recognized teachers with 3+ years of teaching professional OR

  • Professional certification in voice pedagogy or a related field with 3+ years of teaching/practice.

 

Professional members may hold office at any level.

Retired - 65+
($105 CDN / year)

A recognized professional who may not be practicing anymore.

 

Retired Professionals may hold office at any level.

Early Career
($75 CDN / year)

Voice and speech professionals who have just begun their practice as a teacher or coach and have:

  • an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in a related field OR

  • 4 years of individual study with recognized teachers OR

  • Professional certification in voice pedagogy or a related field.

Student & Graduate 
($55 CDN / year)

For those studying at an educational institution at the under-graduate or graduate level, OR for those studying independently with voice/speech professionals.

 

Student members receive all the benefits of full membership.
